If you want to learn Reflexology and you want to earn a living being a professional Reflexology Practitioner, this article is for you:

The first thing you want to ensure is that the Association of Reflexologists accepts the course you are thinking of taking. This ensures you can become a member once you are qualified. For impartial adcice about any school, their phone number is 01823 351010.

Then think about the qualification you want to take: In the UK there are two regulated qualifications: Level 3 and Level 5. Unfortunately there are many rogue course providers, and to confuse things even more there is now a Level 5 organisation that is not accepted by the Association of Reflexologists (all the more reason to take their advice before booking on to any course). So how do you tell the real from the fake? Simple - just click on  https://www.aor.org.uk/home/training/want-to-train/ and scroll to the bottom of the page to see ALL the level 5 and Level 3 schools that they accept. As you might have already guessed - Jubilee College meets the high standards required to be one of the AoR's Gateway Schools.

Choose which level of qualification you want to learn at: If you want to be the best, then the answer is easy – choose level 5. Don’t think that you have to learn at level 3 first, you don’t. Level 5 is designed to take a student from no knowledge at all and equip you with all the skills you need.

Then think about ease of learning: Jubilee College has ELEVEN venues in England. Should you need to swap a training date and attend the same lesson at a different venue, this is all part of our service.

Think about the support you might need: All the Jubilee College tutors are full time teachers and Reflexologists. We are available to support you right the way though the course.

Support after you have finished learning: Jubilee College gives lifetime support to all its graduates!

Ask to visit a class so you can meet current students and your tutor. Jubilee College actively encourages this…… and we also love giving you a free treatment during your visit.

What to avoid – THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT

Avoid online courses: None of these are accepted by any of the genuine membership associations, so are worthless.

Watch out for courses that only allow you to join their own Membership Association. These are very often unregulated courses and you will find yourself restricted once you have qualified.

If the school you are interested in isn't on the AoR's website, stay well away from them. There will be a reason they are not listed.

Lastly if the website talks about ‘equivalent to’ Level 3 or Level 5 or if they mention a ‘bridging course’ to Level 5 it is a fake qualification.

It is a shame that there is so much confusion when looking for genuine Reflexology training. I hope this article helps guide you and wherever you wish to train I hope you will have a fantastic and rewarding career in Reflexology ahead of you.

Touch Therapy Head Massage

After a year of touch deprivation when we couldn’t even offer a soothing hand to someone upset , let alone give and receive hugs from our nearest and dearest , touch therapy has never been more vital .

Touch releases oxytocin which counteracts all the stress hormones . So on top of the obvious stresses of the pandemic , the lack of touch in itself will have raised levelshead massage of stress hormones . Having been a reflexologist for 11 years, Vanessa has always seen the benefits of having Head Massage as a complimentary extra nurturing technique she can use with her own clients in her studio but also in the many varied settings she has worked in, where having both skills as an offering has been a real benefit e.g NhS settings, for gift vouchers, for pamper afternoons, in big corporate workplace settings .

Head massage has been shown to reduce anxiety levels and the stress response by activating the parasympathetic nervous system to moderate , calm and relax the stress response . When we massage the head, we are working directly over the brain so it very quickly sends calming messages to the whole nervous system . Head massage has helped with many ailments , including sleep difficulties, migraines and sinus issues.

This beautiful training in which participants get a day of pampering too as they practise the learned techniques on each other has benefits for your Well-Being and Self Care too aswell as the lucky people you will then go on to nurture with the techniques .Taking care of ourselves is so important after the trials of self employment and the impact on our industry over the last couple of years .

The day begins with putting the massage techniques into the context of their many holistic benefits . Vanessa is keenly aware that we all learn in different ways and so uses her years of teaching experience to provide a variety of learning techniques during the day, from observing, practising, group work , paired work ,repetition , listening, sharing, writing/drawing /recording techniques etc etc . At the end of the day participants will have learnt a basic head massage routine developed from Vanessa's years of learning from NHS Teams across the UK and her own observations from tried and tested successful techniques with patients she has worked with herself . There will be time within the training to consider the far reaching benefits and potential settings the Head Massage Routine could be used in to develop your business . This will include time listening to experiences of other therapists, planning ideas together , then time to create your own business plan moving forward using the techniques learnt . There are so many trainings whereby we can get inspired with new techniques and ideas, then go back to our busy lives and sadly these can be forgotten .After being a trainer for many years, Vanessa always makes the time in the day for forward planning to make things happen after the course .

Course Cost of this 1 Day Training : £160.00

Course material includes a training folder including:

  • Agenda for the day

  • Practising the individual teachniques, and then going on to practice the full massage routine in pairs so each participant experiences the benefits first hand of the techniques as well as lots of time to practise them .
  • Re practising with a different partner - this gives lots of time and practical experience with the techniques as well as giving me time to assess and observe accuracy

katy wayne reflexology tutor at sheffield

Katy Wayne

With over 20 years of teaching in a fast-paced Further Education College I’m so excited to additionally apply my expertise to running the Sheffield venue with Jubilee College.

After losing my beautiful Dad in 2013, I stepped back from my fast‑paced career and re‑evaluated my life goals and aspirations. I had always been drawn to Reflexology, so training in this deeply beneficial complementary therapy quickly moved to the top of my agenda. I knew that when I finally immersed myself in training, I wanted to achieve the highest standard possible — which is exactly why training with David at Jubilee College felt like the perfect fit.

My journey into Reflexology soon began, swiftly followed by Reiki as an additional tool within my therapeutic practice. I now run my own small clinic near Ashbourne in the beautiful Peak District, alongside my programme coordination and lecturing roles. I constantly seek to further develop my skills so I can deliver the very best experience to both my students and my clients. I am also proud to deliver the AOR‑approved Hot and Cold Stone Reflexology postgraduate training course, offering therapists a supportive, high‑quality learning experience that blends advanced technique with practical, confidence‑building guidance. My step into Reflexology was the best decision I have ever made, and I’d love to share my passion and expertise with you. I draw on my wealth of teaching experience to inspire, motivate, and guide you along your own journey. I pride myself on a unique teaching style that embraces all learning preferences, paired with exceptional support and mentoring to truly captivate your learning and development in this wonderful therapy.

I love to support students and help them succeed. Every class I teach will have humour and will make you smile. My personal goal is: "If I haven’t got each student engaged and smiling during every lesson, I feel I haven’t done my job!" I was amazingly nominated for ‘My Favourite Lecturer’ – you can read more on this at the Association of Colleges website - (https://www.aocjobs.com/news-detail/my-favourite-lecturer-katy-wayne)
